ABOUT:
every week, every day, you experience something new. there is no such thing as writer's block (or so i'm told) because you are surrounded by inspiration 24/7. some may be bourgeois, political, social, etc. etc. but it's still inspiration.

#6- the war situation.

that's all i can say about it.

this weekend, so far, has turned out quite the opposite of what i expected.

#1-I wasn't able to go up to new york for the protests in the first place, but friday during lunch i started breakng out into hives. the got worse, so they sent me home. my dad came to pick me up, and he had already made an emergency appointment with my doctor. Now, i get there, i have to put on one of those paper gowns. fun. but not. Anyway, I have to get a strep test, and the guy who worked in the lab was trying to make me laugh. By giving me an offer of getting a free shot with my strep test. It made me a little more cheerful. I didn't have strep, so the diagnosis was a "viral exanthem" which is just a rash that will go away within 3-4 days. it wasn't contagious, so i could go back to school. i had rehearsal, and i really couldn't miss that.

#2-my grandfather's birthday (on my dad's side) was last monday. I was at my mom's, plus didn't make it home from rehearsal until later than usual, so it slipped my mind. My mom and I called tuesday night, but no one answered. I left a message telling him a happy belated birthday and hoped he was having a good night. little did i know that he was at the hospital. another anurism, another surgery, and hopeflly another upcoming getting back to being okay. I haven't talked to him in a few months, i always talk to my grandmother.
I didn't know if i'd get to talk to him again. I didn't know if he knew i wished him a happy birthday.
the one thing about it was everytime i did tak to him, he'd say the same hello, same joyful voice, "hello my sweetheart!"

#3- SNOW. more snow. a lot has come down. a lot more is going to come. so we're getting snowed in. fun stuff. I promised myself i'd make a snow angel. So hopefully, when i get better, i can make one.
when snow is untouched in a residential neighborhood setting, it's beautiful. When it snowed in December, i was taking the bus, passing the national cathedral. this monument covered in pure white snow, The pine trees covered as well. Picturesque.

#4- my mom and i bought a record player. we discovered around 50 of her old albums. vinyl is amazing. we have jimi hendrix, janis joplin, beatles, joni mitchell, the kinks, simon and garfunkle, bob dylan, so much great music. Listening to it, it's amazing. vinyl has an amazing sound. most of my mom's record are in amazing condition. I'm like her with my music, very particular about how my cds are treated, and now my records.

#5-Got report cards. for the first time ever, i got all As. no more parental units nagging me about school. excellent.

i have two pieces i'm working on at the moment. If i have time to workshop them, then they'll be posted/

i usually don't pay attention to Shakira, but the article(s) on this got my attention. Here's one of them :
Shakira Calls for Peace, Explains Mongoose Mystery

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."-Jimi Hendrix

todays a snow day. what to do what to do.

My nickname for january was Garfield. It was a morose month. AT least for me. But I did have some major things. Good and Bad.

#1-The protests, no shit. it was amazing. The speakers were amazing, and so were the people. It was so cold but because I was with one of my best friends (Tanya) and everyone was supportive, we got through it. And of course meeting Dylan and his friends was great too. I've veryveryveryveryvery glad i went.
#2-HAIR-the musical. My school is producing it for their first all-school production in over five years, and considering i go to an arts school, i think that's pretty funny. Plus, i got in! We have about 50 people who made it; only 4 freshman. so I consider myself lucky.
#3-Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's affirmed suspended death sentence will last two years. I wonder what would have happened if no one sent faxes. SFT members sent a 10,000 faxes to their representatives. But, Lobsang Dhondhop was executed last sunday, after a secret retrial. Depressing. But it's what's been happening to Tibetans for 50 years now.
But it isn't just Tibetans. Muslims. Chechens. Human-Rights are barely existent. Another sad thing.
#4 Maret Open Mic- This was the absolute perfect way to spend a friday night. I was really really happy. It was great. I have a lot of friends who go to different schools. It can be hard, especially now, but it's so much fun to go to all this stuff. Spoont. played. Spoont. is a really awesome local band. And Daniel (guitar, vocals) has done so much for me. He's an awesome friend. I met him when was in a local production of Fiddler on the Roof last fall. Anyway, they played last, and i got up and i danced, er, jumped, er, mini-skanked, er, you get the point. But i never really get up and dance at shows. It was an amazing feeling though. Also, Daniel got me one of the shirts that were being sold. It was the perfect one; it had a tie on the front and on the back it said A.L. Says: SUBMIT! its kind of an Inside joke between Daniel and I.
It was an amazing and fun night.
#5-The first day of this month (february for those who don't know what month it is) I went to these lectures about children and stroke. It was fascinating. Twi things that kind of flustered me though: A really really sick kid with chickenpox at a hospital, and we watched a clip of a man having a seizure, split-screen with nerve pulses. Wow. those kind of scared me. But it was great, I had two lectures yesterday and I have two next saturday. Educational interests.
But I never want to be a doctor.
Also, most of you heard about Shuttle Columbia. It's a tragedy. it was 15 minutes from landing. 15 minutes. and then it was gone. poof.
gone.

so....enlighten me.

but you want five things right?

#1- I'm Hillary. tashi delek. nice to meet you.
#2- I'm sXe (straight-edge: no drinking, no drugs, no sex)
#3- writing and music.
#4- i'm a very peaceful person. VERY. i am also greatly into the free-tibet scene. you'll hear a lot about it from me. but nonetheless, i am a hockey fan. a little contradicting?
#5- Big inspiration this past weekend- the protests down on the mall. I went of course. great amazing speeches. awesome people. too bad mr. bush was at camp david. but i think we got our point across.

that's all for my debut update. peace.
